Design is the process by which almost all objects are given a certain look and function, from cars to paper clips,
clothing to chairs. (Vitra Design Museum) We deal with the use of shop window figures in retail shops, making a
bridge between design and visual merchandising. The reason: For a successful positioning in a highly contested
market, the design of shop window figures is becoming more and more important. The figure manufacturers'
design departments are challenged to created solutions that are both highly independent and give off signals.
In the first part of the Short Cuts, we'll show you ideas for such solutions by Japanese display designer
Naomi Tajiri, who presented this figure installation at the Designer's Week. Later on, we'll show you the
application of various shop window figures in the fashion industry.

Yearly Subscription (12 publications 111,- Euro).
