The latest innovations in lighting for the department-store and area lighting segments are flexibble lighting
systems
"Light can guide, inform, decorate and advertise," says the general management of RD Leuchten. In this
respect, the use of lighting in the department-store and area lighting segments, for which the systems
Competence and Extension are perfectly suitable, is a challenge when solving lighting issues. To demonstrate
to planners and shop owners the versatility of these innovative, aesthetic and expressive lighting products,
they were presented just in time for the EuroShop, which took place in the Düsseldorf trade fair halls. After all,
light is still the best salesperson for products.
The two systems Competence and Extension are particularly useful when lighting department store areas and
wide areas. Their advantage furthermore lies in the fact, that both Competence and Extension are very easy to
install.
Competence
The Competence system is a flexible grid installation module with variable fittings, designed to be inserted
into a standard grid without using tools, or with an optional plaster frame, so that it can be installed into plaster
ceilings of 12.5 mm to 16 mm thickness.
Its easy-to-use clip system is highly advantageous thanks to its variable equipping methods. Using a
flat-ribbon connection system, large lighting areas can be equipped and installed in a short time and without
too much work. In addition, all elements can be changed without effort. It is equipped with plug fastening
devices for extensions. Furthermore, spotlight inserts that aren't used can be covered with blinds. Another
advantage: it has a low maintenance requirement and changing the lighting set-up is always possible thanks to
the simple connector system for system-insets.
The grid elements that are inserted into the ceiling at 3 x 3 have a length of 625 mm, a width of 625 mm and
a height of 62 mm, without insets, and the surface is white in colour. Cardanic spotlights CDM-R, CDM-T,
CDM-TC, SDW-TG, Downlight TC-TEL, T5 grid lamps with lamella grids, or even speaker elements can be
inserted, just like the golden, pink or silver-coloured reflectors. The reflectors with coloured surfaces are
especially suitable for the food segment and signalise the desired freshness of products with their lighting
intensity. Competence is ideal for rooms with changeable requirements, such as shop areas, presentation
areas, or public multi-function areas.
Extension
The rail grid module Extension was developed to be flexibly suspended from a EURO high-voltage rail
construction. Equipped with three electric circuits that can be actuated independently, and that are controlled
from the carrier grid, it is easy to install. The cardanic spotlights, for example, are inserted horizontally into
the module using EURO adapters. The material consists of drawn aluminium with a 16 A / 250 V copper
conductor. It is available in white, black or metallic silver. At the same time, this system can be installed
without any tools, which translates into a flexible lighting design without a high time requirement. The
advantage of this system lies not only in the extensive range of accessories, which can be effortlessly
shortened to the required length. The same reflectors used for the Competence system can also be used here.
This spotlight module of 154 mm in length, 275 mm in width and 36 mm in height is captivating with its
pearl-coloured matt aluminium surface, and is installed equally easily in the shop area, the goods area or
the sales area.
The RD Leuchten planning team, the light & more team and the Ammon Vertriebs GmbH sales company all
advise customers on which system is the most suitable for the relevant application. The costs are calculated
on the basis of square metres and are situated in the medium-priced market segment.
